Sidon’s thoughts were wandering.
He was currently swimming deep under the water of the East Reservoir Lake, the very place where he and Link had defeated Vah Ruta together almost three years ago. The reservoir had become his place to steal away and just escape his stressors for a little while, but…they followed him there more often as of late.
His father had just announced to the kingdom that day that Sidon and Lady Yona were to be wed. It was met with delight from the Zora people, of course—Lady Yona was beloved by them all and a popular choice for their future queen.
It just made Sidon feel more guilty for not loving her the way he should.
Sidon inhaled a lungful of water and exhaled it, the coolness of it doing little to clear his head. He couldn’t keep his mind away from the true object of his affections, the one that Sidon had been too shy to ever tell…and now, it was too late to say anything at all.
Now, every memory of Link, of his golden hair and his sapphire eyes, of the way his nose scrunched with amusement, of the sound of his laughter as he and Sidon foolishly shield-surfed along the railings of the Domain-
…Now, every memory was tinged with a bittersweet regret.
