Dabi never understood romance. Why did people lie to themselves? Why did they indulge themselves in that stupid illusion, and then act heartbroken at break ups?

Everyone in the LOV knew how indifferent, cold and bitchy he was. He had an image to maintain, and didn't bother to change anything about himself. So why did he let you off so often? Bite back snarky comments? Even look out for you in missions? He valued his time, and often spent it alone. People irritated him. You did as well, but for some reason, he'd let you join on walks or whatever he was doing, as long as you don't piss him off. If he had a chance, he'd even look out for things that would suit you, in his opinion.

It took him a while to realize why he did that, and even longer to accept it. It felt so weird and strange. Him having feelings? It was surreal. He'd long ago convince himself he doesn't need them. He doesn't feel them. It makes one weak, and he can't afford that. He doesn't deserve anything anymore.

Nevertheless, he accepted how things were. Unsure if he should act upon them, and how, he let the time fly by. He found himself more willing to cooperate, to rely on you (if he was sure you wouldn't disappoint). It wasn't a lot, but he'd stare at you, try to be around you, without looking clingy of course, occasionally feel the slight pang of possession if things went the wrong way.

Since he was never taught how to love or be affectionate, all he could do was just... Be himself, and rely on actions, rather than words.
