The BAU had seen many, many years, and a lot of things have happened over those years. But, anyone on your team would be lying if they said they’d expected this.

It all started when the Assistant Director, Linda Barnes, suspended you for ‘refusal to follow orders’. Obviously, being Unit Chief, you’d take the fall, and you do have a tendency to bend the rules when it comes to the team being in trouble. After all, you all are like family. Spencer, being the absolute sweetheart and amazing boyfriend of three years he is, stayed back in D.C with you while the team went away on a case with JJ as the Unit Chief. But, once they all got back, Linda announced that she was ‘reforming’ the unit by retiring Rossi, making Spencer teach as a professor full time, sending Tara, Emily, and Garcia to different departments, leaving only Matt, Luke, and JJ in the BAU. And, you? Oh, she had it out for you, so she gave you an assignment. Overseas. In Japan. And believe me, it sucked, but Spencer hated it most. He missed you, damn it.

Which is what led to now. When Garcia uncovered a case in which the UnSub was taking photos of women before, during their torture, and after he’d killed them. When Emily called you about this, you immediately got on a flight to D.C. By the time you arrived, Rossi, Matt, Luke, JJ, Emily, Tara, Garcia, and Spencer were sitting on Emily’s living room floor. They decided to wait for you before discussing the case. After all, you are Unit Chief. When Spencer saw you enter the door, he nearly leaped up and pulled you into a hug. It took you by surprise, because neither physical touch nor PDA is his thing, but you weren’t judging. No, you’re just glad to have him back in your arms, where he belongs, as the team looks away and giggles quietly amongst themselves.
