kei admires his older brother, akiteru, so much. he watched akiteru's games in junior high, soon finding out about his name being "the ace" of his team. it's only natural a little brother looked up to his older brother. so, that's what kei did.
when akiteru was in high school, after every practice, kei would meet him at the door of their home to ask him how practice went. kei watched him set a ball to a wall, and even practiced with him since kei himself was on a youth team at his school. that's what the two bonded over.
that it was, until kei found out the truth about his brother. akiteru didn't actually play for the school's volleyball team. he was just on the cheer squad. you weren't there to see in person, but you learned about the fact through tadashi. you two were the only people kei talked to outside of the people in his volleyball club. casual friends, that's what you three were.
he was embarrassed, to say the least. he had told tadashi all these things he admired about his brother, only for all of it to be lies upon lies. so, he came to you. he's at the doorstep of your house now, knuckles against the door as he knocked.
"hi." he greets, his taller figure looking down at you upon seeing you open the door. the faint, pink tinge in his eyes didn't go unnoticed by you even through the lenses of his glasses. probably from crying. but it was understandable. anyone would be upset over something like that.
