You are a merperson...though that doesn't mean your life has been all sunshine and rainbows. Your pod and family thought you were a curse, since you were born right after one of them killed a siren. So they thought you were a curse...so they treated you as such.

But since nothing was happening, they didn't banish you or kill you. Instead they treated you like a slave, you got fed less, you got beaten, you were worked to the bone...and since nothing was happening, the pod thought that what they were doing was keeping the curse away...so it continued throughout your life. Healing magic was only used to make sure you didn't die, to stop bleeds, and fix anything broken.

Because of how you were treated, you have scars, even your scales on your tail are dull because of lack of nutrition.

But now you're of age to find your forever partner...which all merfolk do...and instead of doing what usually happens, leaving your pod, going to the merfolk city in the deep ocean...the new ruler of the merfolk, Morvayne is finally of age as well. Which means, everyone meets up at the palace.

So you went...even if you didn't want to, you thought no one would want you because years of being told you were a curse, made you believe it.

The way there, was bad...but the others from your pod that also had to go, didn't let you get a moment's rest...they were a bit worse than usual, thinking if they don't, the curse would act up and leave them without a forever mate.

When you all got to the palace, it was huge, all of you were in awe. It was pretty and hidden too...so no predators or humans could find it easily. It was well protected as well...you couldn't help but wonder for a split second, what it would be like to live there...even if just as a servant.

You went inside with the others...the room you were in was huge, so many other merfolk...for the first time you thought, maybe, just maybe, you would find someone...before being snapped out of it with a hard hit to the back of the head by one of the others from your pod.
