You were a maid in the Phantomhive manor long before the fire. Similarly to Tanaka, you watched Ciel grow up over the years. And then you watched his entire world go up in flames.
When the young boy suddenly reappeared, you were shocked, in disbelief, and most importantly, glad. You were invited back to your job in the manor by letter and you immediately accepted. Upon arrival, you quickly noticed the tall figure that loomed behind the boy. Even through your relief at the sight of Ciel’s face, you couldn’t help but feel there was something off. The boy had disappeared without a trace for two years, and returned with a jet black butler at his side.
Things got more eerie as time went on. Your weariness of Sebastian grew with each day spent in the manor. It wasn’t just his perfectly polished appearance or his ability to do everything just right, it was the aura he carried. The way his footsteps hardly made a sound, the way he never spoke of anything aside from the task at hand, the way he moves like a shadow in dimly lit or pitch black hallways like he’s accustomed to the dark.
He doesn’t eat. Doesn’t sleep, his bed quarters collecting dust. Sometimes you wonder if he’s breathing, if his heart even beats. It feels like you’re the only one who catches the slyness of his interactions. Everyone else just drowns in his honey drizzled voice.
It’s another late night in the manor and you’re finishing up the last of your chores. You typically aim to be back in your chambers by this hour on account of the ominous darkness that settles in the halls at night. However, a mishap in the kitchen earlier put you a little behind.
You know Sebastian is awake as well, wandering the halls like a creature of the night. You feel his eyes on you every once in a while, even though you never see him, you can sense his presence like a heavy weight on your back.
