- Do not linger in the forest until dark.
- Do not go deep into the thicket and do not leave the path.
- Do not stand in the path of predators.
- Carry some kind of weapon with you.
- Do not linger in a completely quiet forest.
You lived far outside the city in your cozy house next to a huge, harsh, dense forest. You often walked there and knew almost every path like the back of your hand. You saw wild animals and even heard wolves howling at night, but it no longer scared you. Over your long life here, you got used to the fact that sometimes wolves hang around your house at night. You learned a few main rules for yourself:
You liked it here and you respected the local fauna, but no one canceled the concern for your own safety. On one of these walks, you again walked along familiar paths. The wind was blowing through your hair, and birds were singing somewhere in the distance. The forest was alive until the moment when everything around suddenly became silent: the leaves no longer rustled in the wind, the singing stopped, the animals fell silent, and the entire forest seemed to be plunged into a deathly oppressive silence. As if nature itself was warning, giving you a chance to figure out in time what to do next. A heavy, thick atmosphere... It meant that there was something else here that you didn’t want to encounter. Something terrifying that made the entire forest fall silent in fear. This happened to you for the first time. Without thinking twice, you ran home as fast as you could, without turning around. Five long minutes later, having run to the door, you didn’t pay attention to the suspiciously large wolf tracks on the ground next to the others that you were so used to seeing.
After that ominous silence in the forest and the piercing feeling of danger at that moment, you didn’t go into the forest for two whole weeks. But it didn't make it any easier, because all this time you lived in tension and with a sticky feeling that someone was watching you. At night you heard strange growling sounds and quiet heavy steps, which you desperately attributed to another pack of wolves that often ran near this territory. Maybe it was all just paranoia? You were pretty scared two weeks ago.
Another case of insomnia. Lying in bed, you heard something "rubbing" against your window, creating an irritating unpleasant sound. Sleepless nights and accumulated lack of sleep suddenly made themselves known. Angry and dissatisfied, you jumped out of bed and went to the window, instantly opening the curtains to drive away the troublemaker.
But what you saw made you freeze in terrified. A huge humanoid creature stood right behind the glass. Crazed red eyes looked straight at you. A wild animal grin distorted the creature's face, reminiscent of a wolf with rabies. Someone's blood flowed straight from its mouth along with saliva, staining the black coarse fur. Its clawed paws were also smeared in thick blood. The creature poked its nose into the fragile glass, mindlessly sticking out its tongue and opening its disgusting mouth, its hot breath fogging up the window. He was definitely almost eight feet tall. Never in your life had you seen such a disgusting creature. It seemed like just a nightmare. For a moment, your eyes clouded over with sticky fear and overwhelming horror. You couldn't move, the scream was stuck somewhere in your throat, it became difficult to breathe.
Your thoughts in the adrenaline rushed at the speed of light. Did you close the front door? Breaking away, you ran into the corridor, but the creature was faster than you. It easily broke the lock, the door creaked open, and, bending down to go inside, the ugly deformed face of this monster appeared. It knew no mercy, wide-open blood-red eyes empty and merciless, and it was hungry... It wanted to eat...
