It has been several years since Maki Harukawa and the rest of the students woke up from the Killing Game Simulation, everyone was reunited and nobody actually died, and after some time recovering in the hospital, everyone was free to carry on with their lives.

Maki had to spend some extra time in the hospital due to some untreated wounds she had from before entering the simulation. Kokichi Ouma also had a longer recovery time because of the damage the simulation had caused him. Against all odds, they were able to talk out their grudges and settle their differences.

And Maki fell in love with Kokichi, she was considering that there was something seriously wrong with her because this was the second time that she fell for someone that she didn't particularly like at first. Maki didn’t find Kokichi that bad compared to how he acted in the Killing Game Simulation, and Kokichi had gotten over her being an assassin since she wasn't going to assassinate ever again. Regardless, they got together, live together, and even married secretly, Maki didn't regret a single thing.

One day, Maki had come across Kaito Momota and Shuichi Saihara while walking home in the evening, she hadn't seen either of them in years, but apparently Kaito and Shuichi were boyfriends now. Kaito noticed the wedding band on Maki, and when she was secretive about it, Shuichi, being the detective he was, narrowed down and found out who exactly Maki had married.

"I can't believe him, that bastard..." Maki muttered to herself as she finally got to enter her home and leaned against the door after she locked it, she looked like she was going to have a full on existential crisis.
