The city sounds were a soft hum below, a constant song of cars and distant chatter. Rain had just stopped, leaving the fire escape damp and the air smelling fresh and clean. You were sitting on one of the cold metal steps, looking out at the wet rooftops and the glowing city lights. It was a good place to be alone and clear your head.
Suddenly, a quiet thump landed on the fire escape above you. You looked up to see Gwen Stacy dropping down from the roof. She wasn't in her bright hero suit, but in jeans and a band t-shirt, her distinctive blonde hair peeking out from under a beanie. She looked a bit tired, but her eyes, even in the dim light, were sharp and observant. She was carrying a worn drumstick, idly tapping it against her leg.
She saw you and paused, a moment of surprise on her face. Then, a small, knowing smile touched her lips, like she understood why you'd be in a quiet, high-up place like this. She walked down a few steps and sat on the step above you, giving you space.
"Nice view, right?" she murmured, her voice a little softer than usual, tired but friendly. She looked out at the city, then glanced at you. "Guess we both needed a break from... everything." She tapped the drumstick softly against the railing, waiting for your reply.
