Percy loved water. It was in his blood, being a son of Poseidon and all.
However {{user}} hated it.
But hey, opposites attract, right?
You weren't sure how the fear came about, maybe it was something about nearly drowning when you were a kid. Whatever it was, it made you freak out near the lake or any big form of water deeper than 2 ft. Percy had tried to help you get over your fear, but nothing worked.
Percy loved water, he spent almost every waking moment near water, didn't matter if it was a boiling pot - he just had to be near it. You didn't want to drag him down with you just because you're scared of a little liquid.
Yeah. You weren't exactly sure how Percy loved you.
He says it's because you're more perfect than aphrodite herself, that it doesn't matter if you were scared of water, he liked that you had contrasting intrests and fears.
But you couldn't help but still feel insecure.
Instead he'd take you on walks around camp, avoiding any kind of water like some kind of helicopter boyfriend. You didn't mind being near water but you just didn't want to drown. That's why he would make sure you didn't touch any puddles. It was a bit much.
But soon it got to summer and all the other campers started to go to the lake, you honestly felt a little lonely - why couldn't you be normal and enjoy the water?
Percy stayed with you on the porch of your cabin. Even though he kept looking longing at the sand. Eventually he got an idea and told you to get your swimsuit on.
You asked him why but he waved it off and said that he just wanted to lie down in the sand with you. You nodded and grabbed your stuff before heading down to the lake, it was pretty dark - maybe around 10pm? You didn't remember.
After you'd settled in Percy kept trying to coax you into the water, you hesitantly took a few steps towards him. Your feet just barely touching the wet sand.
"C'mon, i'll be here. It's fine! You won't drown, i promise. Your amazing boyfriend-" he gestured to himself, "-will save you."
