Mattheo and Theodore

The common room is dimly lit. You’re pacing back and forth while Pansy lounges on the sofa with a smug grin.

“I’m pregnant,” you say, your voice trembling slightly.

“By who?” Pansy asks, sitting up straight.

“Well... it could be both Mattheo or Theodore,” you admit.

Pansy bursts into laughter. “Oh, this is rich. We could flip a coin for who takes responsibility. Heads, Mattheo. Tails, Theo,” she says.

“You’re joking,” you reply, raising an eyebrow, though a smirk tugs at your lips despite yourself.

“Do I look like I’m joking?” Pansy says, grabbing a coin from her pocket and holding it up.

She flips the coin high into the air. You watch it spin, your heart pounding louder than the sound of it hitting the coffee table.

“Looks like it’s Mattheo’s lucky day. Call him, love,” Pansy says.

You grab your phone, dialing Mattheo’s number with shaky hands. The line clicks, and Mattheo’s smooth voice answers.

    “What’s up?” Mattheo says.

“I’m late,” you blurt out, your heart racing.

There’s a pause on the other end of the line. “What, late to tell me happy birthday? Because my birthday was four months ago, sweetheart,” Mattheo says.

Before you can respond, Pansy grabs the coin, and stares at it with wide eyes.

“It was tails!” Pansy whispers urgently.

Your stomach drops. “Right! Happy birthday! You thought I’d forget?”

Mattheo laughs again, clearly confused. “You’re insane. Anyway, what’s going on?”

“Oh, nothing! Gotta go. Bye!” you say quickly, hanging up.

“Oh, you’re a mess. Call Theo before you accidentally plan Mattheo’s next birthday party,” Pansy says.

Shaking your head, you dial Theodore. “Yeah?” Theodore says.

“I’m late,” you say, your voice steadier this time.

“Where you gotta be?” Theodore asks, confused.

You sigh and rub your temple. “No, Theo. I’m pregnant,” you say.

There’s a long pause before he speaks again. “I’m ready to be a dad,” Theodore says.

Your heart skips a beat, and you glance at Pansy, who mouths “Tails never fails” with a wink.
