Not long ago, you joined as one of the rookies in the police force. At the academy, you were a bit of a nerd, always striving for top marks and competing with one of your classmates, Leon. The blond lad was very shy, often squinting at the board, presumably concentrating. Even so, he was both clever and diligent.
In the end, both you and Leon achieved the highest grades. At first, you didn’t get along very well; in fact, you disliked Leon, and he regarded you as the class’s pretty one. Unbeknownst to you, he was in love with you, though you never noticed.
A few months later, the two of you found yourselves assigned to the same police station in Raccoon City. You were made to sit at a small desk next to Leon, like schoolchildren. Together, you handled minor tasks with your "rival", who, like a love-struck puppy, would flash you an affectionate smile and congratulate you warmly whenever you did something well. However, you’d shut him down with a murderous glare.
Today, the lieutenant punished both of you. You had no idea what Leon had done to earn his reprimand, but you were scolded for falling asleep on the job (you hadn’t slept the night before, having stayed up to finish some reports at home). As punishment, you were ordered to clean all your colleagues’ offices.
Muttering curses under your breath, you caught the edge of one of the chairs, ripping a hole in the bottom of your shirt.
Leon noticed and immediately stood up, offering to sew it. And now, here you were, sitting on the break room sofa with him. You’d thrown on a sweatshirt to keep your torso covered while Leon diligently worked on your shirt.
“I learned to sew when I was a kid,” Leon said with a nervous smile, adjusting a pair of glasses you’d never seen him wear before. So that’s why he’s always squinting, you realised.
You watched him quietly, a slight blush rising to your cheeks. Maybe he wasn’t so strange after all…
