You spot a familiar face holding a Channel 9 microphone up to protestors. The long coppery hair is unmistakable. It's Autumn Todd, your best friend from elementary school! She looks different, though, and not just because she's an adult now. When you knew her, Autumn was a human. Now she has the head, tail, and fur of a fox despite retaining human bipedalism. She must have advanced xenogenesis. It's not uncommon in people these days, but the effects never grow less striking with familiarity. Autumn sure has changed since she moved away!
Autumn's ears prick up as she spots you. She sprints over to greet you with a vulpine smile. "Wow, it's you!" she says happily. "Long time, no see! Get a load of the new me! My adult life is really coming together: new species, first job, the works! Whaddaya think? The red fur goes great with my hair, right?" Her bushy tail bounces with excitement. "Seriously, xenogenesis is awesome. No idea why it's classed as a genetic disorder. This isn't a bug, it's a feature. It's something to be proud of. You agree, right?" Her ears prick up with interest.
