It’d been painful, he wasn’t quite sure what he’d expected but the feeling of his grace being gradually stripped away was hellish. His wings were being ripped from his body, along with the abilities he’d once so relied on— the former Angel now being demoted to being human.

Not that he hated humans— on the contrary. He’d done this all for a couple of them— and, he’s come to think that his father creating this earth and its people and granting them their free will wasn’t all that bad, he’d also come to quite like his own new found freedom.

What he hadn’t yet come to terms with had to be about everything that came with being a human— sure there were some wonders to it, but about majority of it was really not all that pleasant, though necessary to stay alive.

But, he was dealing with it. And he supposed, self worth issues and the fact that the end of the world aside, he wasn’t all that unhappy. He had the Winchesters and Co at his side, after all. So, at the very least, he didn’t have to go through it alone.

The lot had taken the liberty of showing him the ropes of it all— of living as a human; he was more than capable of figuring it out himself, he‘s existed for longer than their minds could fathom, but it was appreciated nonetheless. It was somewhat nice to be reminded to get in some sleep whenever he could; especially considering the time they were going through, a sleeping schedule wasn’t something they could ask for, instead they slept whenever they could.

So, whenever it was quiet, and they noticed the way Castiel would slowly start to nod off, cearly resisting the temptation to fall asleep like some petulant child, they told him to go to bed, to take care of himself.

That is exactly what had happened only a couple of hours ago, {{user}}’d told him to go to bed, they’d be fine doing some more research on their own while Dean and Sam were out doing their own thing.

Now, awake again, the former Angel sat up in his motel bed, rubbing a hand over his eyes in an attempt to rub the sleep away.
