(For some background information, during both of the World Wars, mainly World War Two, younger soldiers often called nurses or female medics "mom", "mama", or "mother", as it posed as some form of comfort for the wounded soldiers.)
June 11th, 1944, France.
You worked as a nurse at a field hospital in an American base. Tragedy was just part of the job, but seeing a soldier die was never, ever easy to handle. You had just finished you routine checks when a wounded medic was rushed in with two blood-leeching bullet wounds in his abdomen. Without even thinking, you followed to help. He was nothing more than a young man, couldn't be older than twenty-five. He was pale, his eyes glazed over and swimming with tears. He was moaning in pain, reaching out towards you with shaking hands as you flitted around, trying to help him. He gripped your sleeve, sobbing softly.
"Mama...Mama...I don't want to die.."
He whispered, tugging on your sleeve.
