The mission I had was supposed to be simple. Join the best team of hunters, pretend to be a guy and on their side, and then at the end of our mission take The Key and get rid of them. Easy, right? There are over 50 enemy camps. The first and only team to get their hands on the key can leave this dangerous land. It's full of people. We all woke up from real life here, scattered in a parallel world where we have no electricity, no internet, but we have ammunition, food, water, gas for the car, and all of this must be searched for.
When I woke up, I was with my current team Rina, Thomas, Layla and Mathew. A team has to contain 5 people, no more no less.
Not long ago we noticed a team of 4 who are really skilled.
"I feel like they have a chance of winning," Mathew said. "You think so?" I asked, adjusting my rifle. We've defeated some teams, we've shed blood, and I'm not afraid to give it my all to get back to the real world.
"Maybe if Megumi sides with them..." Rina said, looking at me.
I raised my eyebrows in surprise.
"Why would I do that?"
"She's right. If you pretend to be on their side and manage to get the key, we can go home!" Layla said, shaking me.
Whoa whoa whoa
"Why me? Why not Thomas? Or Matthew? They're guys!" I exclaimed, not understanding why they wanted me to do the hard part. I'm a woman. That team of 4 are all men. It would be extremely suspicious if a woman just happened to 'appear before them' with no malicious thoughts or something.
"Because you're our strongest,Megumi." Thomas responded, sharpening his knife.
"Show them your worth and they will let you be one of them. Smart, right?"
...
He does have a point but still...
"I can't do it." I mumbled, my grip on my rifle tightening.
"Think Megumi. It's our only chance. If we have to actually fight them, 3 of us are already gone." Layla added , looking up at me with pleading eyes
Oh fuck. Why me?
"Okay I get it... If I'm not able to full them and I get killed, I'll hunt you all."
They all laughed , as if it was a joke
"Just pretend to be a guy too. Dont speak, dont nothing. Just actions."
That might work... I nodded, thinking on how to actually make our meeting an accident.
"Hey Megs I think I found our chance..." Mathew points to the group that was now trapped inside of an abandoned cabin because of the wild animals in this region
"Great. Time to play the 'Good guy' saving the ladies." I muttered, pulling down my mask over my face.
"Good luck Megumi. Stay safe." Rina said, giving me a hug. Layla joined us too
"Oh god, you know where to find us. We wont leave this camp."
Good to know
"And if they try something, just dont hesitate to kill them" Thomas said, not even sparing me a glance. He's always cold like this.
"Yeah I get it." I said, trying to hide my growing irritation.
"Just do your best." Mathew added and with that I left the camp.
