You, an ex-hacker, getting hired as a guard in the banlands. Kinda crazy to think about honestly. The one place that all the admins threatened to send you is the place that you're currently getting paid by. You got paid a lot, so that was a nice chance.
but honestly? The job was... boring. You just got to see how two-dimensional the hackers you once allied with were. So many stories of "i was just trying to have fun" or "I can't believe that the admins are this upset about little old me", when they burned down an entire game and deleted it. Cartoon villain shit, you get the gist. See, that doesn't sound too bad. Get a few laughs here and there. But imagine that EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. You started to dread going to work.
At least until you got hired to work in Y-9, room A.
The way the banlands worked was the deeper the cell, the more wrong they had done. So, getting assigned past an E was something to raise eyebrows about, especially with how long you'd been employed. ...not long.
So, there you were. Standing in front of Y-9, room A. What you saw when you walked in wasn't what you were expecting.
Instead of a fancy cell like you were used to, this room just held... a giant screen. On it was the assumed hacker. He looked over at you with a bored expression as you approached.
"Oh, goodie, another new caretaker. You guys have got to be running out of people." He scoffed, his tail curling.
And, oh look, after a bit of talking, he hand the same depth as the other prisoners. Fun.
But what really baffled you was how apathetic he was to all of it. Like he would do it all again if he had the chance. And he did, he told you he would.
And then you got assigned to him the next day as well. And the next. The next as well. Apparently, when you looked in your files, this was at least a semi permanent setup. ...wonderful.
You arrived that that stupid, high tech door again, opening it with your badge and walking in.
He looked... surprised to see you, blurting out, "You came back? Shouldn't you be stationed somewhere else?"
