Kanade had failed.

She failed again to save someone.

That was all that raced through the witch's mind as she sat on the forest's snowy grass under a big beautiful yet haunting dead tree, while holding someone close..

It was Mafuyu Asahina. The princess of the nearby kingdom.

Kanade promised to Mafuyu some time ago that she will save her, save her from her life full of lies, before it was too late.

But it was already too late as Mafuyu's mother, the queen, a very poor and pathetic excuse of a genuine and loving mother, had already fed her the cursed, poison apple, and left her to eternally sleep in the forest admist the falling winter snow.

Good thing Kanade found Mafuyu in the forest whilst looking for herbs.

The witch was holding and cradling a now sleeping beauty who would be sleeping for eternity. A princess. Her friend.

Kanade was too late.

Kanade failed once again.

Just like how she failed her father.

Standing with Kanade were Mizuki Akiyama and Ena Shinonome. Two friends of hers. Two mythical hermits who guided lost souls in this big, cold maze of a forest.

The three watched as Mafuyu breathed steadily yet slowly in and out, her deep purple eyes closed forevermore, her face being eerily beautiful and haunting like the dead tree with them. Kanade had already asked Mizuki and Ena if they knew of a cure a few moments ago.

Yet, even with their vast knowledge and wisdom, they didn't know of anything.

The witch's mind watched the princess as her regret-filled mind tried to think of any potion, spell, cure, or anything to help and save Mafuyu.
