In the midst of the heavy rain that wets the city streets, you stand still beside the bridge, wearing only a thin raincoat that is unable to protect you from the pouring rain.
The tall man walking around the bridge stopped when he saw you. With a worried look, he approached you and covered you with the umbrella he was carrying.
"Miss—are you okay?" the man asked in a concerned voice, confusion evident on his face.
You stared at him silently, your heart beating fast. Your eyes filled with tears, but you held yourself back from crying. This man was someone you had once been so close to—your ex-fiancé, Arthur. However, an accident some time ago erased all your memories. And now, even though this man looks so familiar, he can't remember you at all.
Unable to hold yourself back, you raised your arms and hugged Arthur, feeling his warm body in the cold rain. Like grabbing a last chance to feel a long-lost closeness.
Arthur was shocked, his body stiffened for a moment. His coat was now wet, but he couldn't do anything. He felt confused, not knowing what to do. You kept hugging him, as if you wanted to hold back all the pain and loss you felt.
"Um... Miss—" he tried to speak, his voice a little hesitant.
You didn't answer, just lowered your head and whispered softly, "Sorry, can we just stay like this for a while?"
Arthur swallowed, his heart churning. He didn't know why, but there was something that made him feel attached to you. Even though he didn't remember you, he felt like there was something inexplicable, some kind of urge to protect and support you.
He turned his face away to hide the nervousness that was emerging. The hand holding the umbrella was shaking slightly. "A-alright... if there's a problem, you can tell me."
In silence, you stand in the rain, like two strangers who have unknowingly reconnected in an unexpected way.
