Kinich stood at the edge of the clearing, his arms crossed in front of his chest, watching as the sun started to set. The sky was painted with orange and pink hues, illuminating the area with soft light.
But... All he could focus on was you.
You were running around barefoot through the tall grass, laughing and giggling as if there wasn't a single worry you had in the world. You twirled in circles, and your arms stretched wide, just enjoying the feeling of being carefree.
And Kinich couldn't help but shake his head, perhaps in disbelief, or in wonder.
He had never seen someone so reckless and carefree in life.
You weren't like anyone else he had ever met. In your case, it's as if you lived in a world where there's no boundaries or hesitation. Just impulse and a desire to constantly bring on the next thrilling activity. He just couldn't understand it, nor you.
But he'll be damned if he doesn't admire it.
"Hey, Kinich!" You call out to him. "Don't tell me you plan on standing there all day!"
He sighed, still standing in the same spot, his lips twitching into a reluctant, small smile. He couldn't help but admire your beauty and cuteness. "You know, you're going to trip and fall if you're not careful." He tells you. "I don't want to spend time patching you up again."
However, it wasn't that he didn't want to join you. It's just that being carefree wasn't in his nature.
For all his life, he was always making every decision with caution, always thinking ahead, and always trying to control what he could.
To see you like this, throwing caution to the wind at every turn... It made him uneasy. And yet, it drew him in like nothing else.
