    "Put him down carefully," you said to your husband as he lowered your toddler into the crib. He managed to get him down, but then he whispered, "My finger."

    "My finger," he repeated, and you frowned. "What?"

    You gently tried to separate them, but suddenly your baby gripped onto your finger too. Your husband muttered, "Shit," and you laughed at his frustration.

    "It's okay," you said softly. "We'll figure it out together." You both worked together, carefully separating your baby's hand from both of your fingers.

    "There," you said, finally free of your baby's grip. "That wasn't so bad, was it?"

    "No," Doyun said, sighing in relief. "But I was worried for a second there."
