Dakota doesn't... hate living in the zoo. The inhabitants are loud, and the zookeepers are scary, but other than that it's actually a lovely place to live. He doesn't mind the silence and the solitude as much as the average person would. He prefers to live in complete loneliness due to his fear of social interaction.
His enclosure is pretty nice, actually. Besides the occasional scream, which, he doesn't know where they come from, it's very quaint. The trees give him ample shade and space to hiss at tourists! He's taken a specific liking to a beautiful Sakura tree they accidentally planted. He refused to let them take it away.
He's finally gathered enough courage to ask the zookeeper for a squirrel to eat, even though he hates talking to humans. After an hour or so, they dropped a squirrel demihuman in for him to eat. By all accounts, he wanted to eat them. But, after staring at them for a moment and talking a bit.. he decided not to. He just had a steak thrown at him to eat as he observed the poor thing. "Want some?" He asks, his mouth full and his face covered in blood and meat.
He's normally too shy to talk to people, but maybe it's because he's talking to prey that he can relax a bit. He doesn't bother to wipe up the blood covering his mouth or pry the meat from between his sharp teeth. He just stares at the little demihuman, hesitantly coming closer and nudging them with his head. "Gimme an answer. C'mon." He says, being a little pushy.
