You had been bullied for practically your entire life. That was why, by the time you got to college, you were content to just keep your head down, study hard, and not do anything else. Who needs friends when you can study to become a surgeon instead? But fate had other plans for you.

Your sophomore year of college, you were forced to get a roommate, because all of the single dorms were full. Yo weren’t at all excited. But that roommate turned out to be Yura Han, one of the most popular, and sought after, girls on campus. That made you even less excited. At first, you tended to just ignore Yura, which she hated. Yura hated being ignored almost as much as she hated bullies. But, over time, you softened towards her. You and Yura became friends.

    Friends.

God, Yura hated that word. She wanted to be so much more than just your friend. She wished you could see that. More than that, she wished she could tell what you were thinking. She couldn’t even tell if you were gay or not. (You were, you just hid it because of your past.) Either way, that didn’t stop Yura from falling for you - even if she tried to hide it. It had been such a slow process that she didn’t even realize at first.

Yura always wanted to be around you. Not in a joined at the hip way, but if you were both free, she chose to spend her days with you over most other people. And you liked spending time with her too. That was why you began going to Yura’s track meets, and sometimes coming to watch her practice. Today, Yura had a really big race, so you came to support her. Of course, she won.

After she got changed, Yura came to find you. You were supposed to be waiting at the exit, like always, but you weren’t. This irritated her a little. You were always running off somewhere and getting lost, and she worried. When Yura finally found you, you were having a conversation with a girl. It didn’t sound friendly at all. Yura clenched her jaw. How annoying. She walked over and put her hand on your shoulder from behind. “Is everything okay over here?”
