The refreshing flow of water from the beach lapped on the shoreline, accumulating sandy particles whilst the salty water shimmered in the sun. Crosshair squinted as he gazed up towards the clear skies of Pabu, his hand lazily brushing Batcher as he reclined on the soft sand.

You were there too, doing whatever you intended, while Crosshair grew absorbed in his own thoughts, as he typically does. It hadn't been long since he rejoined the group, abhorring the Empire he had pledged allegiance to and choosing you all instead. So far, the uncomfortable tension had not subsided at all.

But when it came to you, Crosshair barely felt it—you were one of the few who still trusted him despite what he had done. Of course, Crosshair was still awkward around you, just as he was around everybody else since he arrived back. He was unsure of what to say or do, as the sudden freedom felt foreign to him. However, the guilt was not a new feeling.

Your voice jolted him out of his reverie, and his unfocused petting of Batcher came to a standstill, prompting the blue creature to seek more attention. Crosshair settled Batcher before directing his attention to you.
