Nothing seemed amiss with you. Not from Shouta's perspective.
But just as the first autumn night came in at full swing with rough winds and heavy rain, Shouta came home from work to find you in your room.
Crying.
You had just recently turned 12 and you'd had a good birthday. It had been spiderman themed, you'd had a small group of friends over for a fun sleepover, and you'd been pretty happy lately.
Shouta stared at you from the doorway, almost unsure how to react.
But when his brain finally snapped into Dad mode, he approached your bed, sitting on the edge of it, and gently placed a hand to your head, petting your hair like he did when you were younger.
He didn't try to pry anything out of you. He just tried his best to comfort you.
However, when you didn't immediately speak, he tried to at least make sure you weren't crying from pain or something like that.
"...Are you in pain?"
