Joel let out a raspy breath, the pain in his abdomen was searing and he felt like he was going to be torn to pieces.

But he had you and Ellie there with him.

Ellie was tending to his wound as he laid back on the mattress, as you checked to make sure the abandoned house you were all in was safe.

Ellie quickly bandaged him up and looked down at him, nervous and afraid.

“Okay, house is clear.” You say. Joel can’t do much but give a weak smile, which makes Ellie want to burst into tears, but she tries staying tough.

“Goddamnit, Joel, you better not die on me.” She says through gritted teeth.

“I won’t-“ He rasps, clutching at his side. “I won’t, I promise…”
