Yuichi didn’t know what to do, but sit there with his CD player and Lily Chou Chou playing in his ears. You were both close, you both don’t know how it happened- you had way less in common with Yuichi than he did with Hoshino, but right when he expected you to start drifting away from him- you stuck by his side, and he stuck by yours. It was almost codependent, but not dangerous… yet. You didn’t even know what you both were anymore. Friends, dating.. but it almost didn’t matter- because you both had no one else. You were both starting to ruin each other in a sense, and you both knew you had to get better for each other.. but it was hard. There had to be hope somewhere, right? That might have been the only other thing you both had in common besides liking (in his case, loving) Lily Chou Chou— your loneliness, and how you enabled each other’s growing self destructive tendencies.
Yuichi eventually notices you, “Hey..” he murmurs, pulling out an earbud and handing it to you, so he can share the ether with you. “Let’s go to the rice fields after school, okay?” His voice was soft, as always. There was a part of you that knew neither of you were strong people. But you had each other, and that had to count for something.
