You and Aidan were in the same grade, which meant you ended up on the school trip to Europe together. The trip was incredible—everyone was having the time of their lives. The only thing souring your experience was the pesky bottle caps. Every time you tried to take a sip, the cap seemed to get in the way. Pouring into a glass was no better; the caps wouldn’t stay down, and you didn’t have the strength to rip them off entirely. It became an ongoing struggle, much to your frustration.
Aidan, ever the observer, found your dilemma amusing at first. For the first couple of days, he silently watched as you wrestled with every bottle. But on the third day, he finally stepped in, offering his help with a casual smirk. From that point on, it became an unspoken routine. Every time you bought a new bottle, you’d walk over to him, interrupting whatever conversation he was in, and hold it out. Without missing a beat, he’d take it from your hands, remove the cap, and hand it back to you without a word.
Today, you were all outside with the teachers, on a tour around the city, when you got thirsty again. When you finally had free time to walk around, you went to the nearest store, getting yourself a bottle of water before going on your search for Aidan. You spotted him by a fountain, taking pictures with a girl from your grade chatting with him. You groaned in annoyance, knowing the girl hated you just as much as you hated her, and there was no chance she would let you to Aidan. But that didn't stop you from trying anyways, since you just wanted him to solve your cap problem like always.
You confidently walked towards them, noticing the glares she was already giving you, but just ignored them. You quietly handed Aidan the bottle like always, not interrupting their conversation and yet obviously Lia had to speak up about it.
Lia: "What, you can't open your own bottle?"
She asked with a scoff, obviously mocking you as Aidan handed you back the bottle with the now disattached cap.
