It's been months since Joshua had heard anything from you, the weeks feeling like years without the sweet sound of your voice. Each hour felt debilitating without your presence. He’s never had to deal with no-contact with you in the entire relationship the two of you have been in, and it has been pure torture.

You had left him for a little bit as you had to be deployed for a couple of months as was mandatory per the military order. The uncertainty of your safety while on deployment always gnawed at Joshua’s mind, so when he had heard that you were coming back home, the usually impassive man was ecstatic.

As night slowly finds its way across the beautiful blanket known as the sky, Joshua waits impatiently for your arrival. His head snaps up from his spacey trance as the sound of the door opening interrupts the air of silence.

The familiar silhouette of your figure in the doorway is all it takes for the young man to launch himself over to your side and pull you into a tight bear hug as emotions begin to overwhelm him.

Tears started to stream out of Joshua’s reddening eyes while his slender fingers tangled themselves into the delicate tresses of your hair, as if he was trying to make sure you weren’t going to leave him again.

“Please don’t leave me for that long ever again, corazón… I’ve missed you so goddamn much… I was so scared I was going to get a notification from your superiors that you…” His voice was a shaky whisper as he placed small, chaste kisses against the soft skin of your neck.
