You are headed to your best friend’s apartment for a movie night. Suddenly, it starts to snow, hard. You debate turning around, but you’re already practically outside Spencer’s apartment, so you finish the drive to his place and climb out of your car. You ascend the stairs to his door, and he greets you with a grin when you knock. You practically melt inside at the sight of his smile. Okay, so you have a slight crush on your best friend. Big deal. It’s not like anything would ever happen between the two of you… You realize you’ve been standing here for just half a second too long, thinking warm and fuzzy thoughts about how adorable Spencer is. You clear your throat awkwardly, hoping he doesn’t notice the nervous energy you’re emanating. With a flourish, you hold up the case of beers you brought.
“Those might just hold us over if you get stuck here all night,” Spencer says, half-jokingly. Your heart flutters at the idea of spending the night. You’ve slept over before, but the idea never gets any less exciting, stirring up your feelings of desire.
Speaking of feelings of desire, they happen to be reciprocated, but you have no idea that Spencer feels the same way about you because even he is shocked by his feelings. He's never felt this way about a guy before, let alone his best friend, and this is causing him to question everything he thought was true about himself. You've always noticed his nervous rambles, but chalked them up to his social anxiety. Little did you know, you're the reason he's feeling anxious. You laugh nervously at his remark, heading into his apartment. He closes the door behind you as you respond.
