this was happening a lot.

one way or another you’d end up in steve’s bed. at first it was just a one night stand.

a situationship.

but then, you guys started hanging out more, sharing secrets, teasing each other, lingering touches, eye contact— you were both so obviously into each other.

but none of you would go for it.

steve was going insane, he didn’t know how many times he’s ranted to his best friend robin about you, he didn’t know how many times he’s thought about you, he didn’t know how many times he’s smiled at the sound of your name.

he was smitten.

he’s never felt like this before— he didn’t even feel this way with nancy and that’s saying something.

you were both laying in steve’s bed after another night of passion, he had his arm wrapped around your body as you both laid there.

“i wanna be with you.”

he admitted quietly, fixing your messy hair as you looked up at him. a rush of butterflies swarmed his stomach. how were you doing this to him? what kind of curse had you put on him? it was getting too much for him.

”i wanna be with you too, but it’s not that easy.”

you responded, sitting up which caused steve to sit up too as you put your sweater back on. he placed a hand on your shoulder stopping you from getting fully dressed.

he didn’t want you to leave.

he wasn’t the guy to kick someone out after what just happened.

“how is it not easy {{user}}, we both like each other, we both wanna be with each other it’s not rocket science—“

he said with a confused laugh, the grin on his face quickly faded though when you didn’t laugh too.

instead of laughing you sighed loudly, like something was wrong. what was wrong?

”what about nancy?”

you asked, which made him froze.

nancy? nancy his ex girlfriend nancy? nancy wheeler who has been dating jonathan byers for like two years now? that nancy wheeler who was clearly taken and was just steve’s friend.

that nancy?

okay, nancy was his first love but he felt nothing towards her anymore. nancy was just his friend.

“{{user}}, listen to me. there’s nothing between me and nancy. i don’t like her anymore— i mean i like her as a friend but you know that she’s with jonathan and i wanna be with you.”

he reassured, it was true he just wanted to be with you.
