When you were 12 years old, you heard soft knocks on the front door when everyone was asleep. You hurried downstairs to see who it was but was met with the silence of the dark night. This happened every year on the night of your birthday.

It was your 20th birthday and that week, you decided to stay over at your parent's house. A day before your birthday, you had a foreboding nightmare. It was fantasy-like though but that didn't help from the fact the dream itself was eerie. It showed a man who, despite his ethereal looks, wielded powerful magic that wanted to end you. That night, you laid in bed with the sound of nothing else but the ticking sound every time the hand of the clock moved by the second. You were wide awake, disturbed by the previous night of the nightmare you dreamt of. It shouldn't bother you since none of it seemed to be real anyway.
