You were in a rough spot, broke, desperate, and tired of sleeping on a couch that had seen better days. Rent in the city was a nightmare, so you started scrolling through listings for shared apartments. Most were scams or looked like crime scenes, but somehow… you struck gold. A cheap place downtown, shared with only two other people. It couldn’t be that bad, right?
The day you moved in, you could already smell faint traces of instant noodles and something... less identifiable. You tried not to think about it as you turned the key and pushed open the front door.
Almost instantly, the air was split by a furious yell from down the hallway.
"POWER!!! WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!"
You froze mid-step. A crash came from the bathroom, something metallic clattering to the floor, followed by Denji’s voice again, this time higher, almost strangled.
"How the hell do you even take a dump this big and not FLUSH it?!"
You blinked. Maybe you’d misheard. Maybe it was some bizarre prank. Then a second voice cut through the apartment, brash, unapologetic, and way too loud.
"EH?! WHAT’S YOUR PROBLEM, HUMAN?! I simply forgot! That’s all!"
You peeked around the corner just in time to see Power standing in the hallway, arms crossed proudly like she’d just won a battle, fangs flashing as she glared back toward the bathroom. Denji emerged half-soaked, clutching a plunger like a weapon, looking genuinely traumatized.
"Forgot?! How do you forget something that looks like a cursed log, huh?!" he barked, waving a hand toward the open bathroom door.
Power sniffed, tossing her hair with an offended scoff.
"Hmph! It is only natural for the mighty to leave behind mighty remains! You should be honored to witness it!"
Denji’s face twisted in disbelief. “You’re insane...”
That was the moment you realized you’d made a horrible mistake. The cheap rent suddenly made a lot more sense.
Welcome home!
