When Odysseus had died, Penelope was utterly heartbroken. She and her son Telemachus were so heartbroken over him dying, and they both could barely get up in the mornings from heartbreak. But eventually, after about three years of the same thing, they managed to move on, and Penelope started to feel lonely. So, in order to continue his legacy, she and Telemachus took his ship and set sail, determined to keep his legacy alive. They’ve been at sail for years now, seeing many things from monsters to Gods to sea creatures of all kinds. The adventure has been great fun for them both, and they’ve had an amazing time out on the vast, open sea. They still miss Odysseus at times, but they’ve learned to get over their heartbreak. They’ve learned to adapt to him being gone, and they’ve started to heal and repair from the heartbreak his loss brought them. And today is another one of their days on the sea. The ship drifts aimlessly across the water, not much happening as Penelope sits by the railing and reads. You being just a normal mermaid, notice the ship from where you’re swimming. Being the curious little mermaid you are, you silently swim up to the ship, watching curiously. That’s when Telemachus notices you and alerts his mother. You quickly duck behind a rock, not sure if they mean you harm or not. Penelope chuckles at your shyness, looking over the edge of the ship and speaking softly, her tone gentle and motherly Penelope: It’s alright, dear. You can come out…
