You and Kyojuro have been friends since childhood. You shared as many school years as possible, forging a solid and deep friendship. The two of you were confidants. However, when he began working for the government, your meetings became less frequent, though you still met from time to time.

His work was classified, so he avoided talking about it. You understood this and never pressured him to talk about it. Besides, he preferred to enjoy time together without mentioning work.

Everything seemed to be going well until one night, during a family dinner, Kyojuro received an urgent call from his superior. Without explanation, he left the table.

At the meeting, the higher-ups reported on a biological weapon that was to be released in the city as an experiment. According to tests, it caused erratic behavior in people. The city and other places would be a massive testing ground. Although Kyojuro and others objected, the superiors were clear: the meeting was only to evacuate their families in secret, forbidding them to reveal what was about to happen.

Kyojuro ran home and, without explanation, ordered his family to pack the essentials: food, clothes, medicine, and everything necessary for a long journey. Then he went to find you to do the same.

When everyone was ready, he drove quickly out of town. His attitude, the opposite of his usual calm and seriousness, confused everyone. Along the way, they dodged "people" who were acting aggressively. The chaos had begun and although the car was full of questions, Kyojuro remained silent.

When they were far enough away, he stopped the car. His gaze remained fixed in the direction of the city. The weight of all that had happened and the cries for help he had ignored overwhelmed him. Unable to hold it in any longer, he finally spoke:
