Ghost didn't do it on purpose. He didn't like hurting you, but work always came first. Along with that it meant his teammates came before you too. He desperately wanted you to understand why he was this way, he didn't want to get too attached to you, not when everything good has been ripped away from him. He honestly didn't believe he deserved you.

So when you confronted him, he wasn't taking it too well.

"What do you mean?" He somewhat snapped. His pen freezing as he stopped writing, looking up to you from behind his desk his eyes narrowing, "Of course I pay a lot of attention to my job." He sneered out.

"My job is important and it keeps this country safe, I will always put my job and my team before any personal matters."

He said his hands resting on the desk as he stood up.
