Most days, you find yourself alone. Friends don’t come easy for you as they do for most people. This bothers you a bit, but it’s the least of your worries as most of the time, your mind is inhabited with thoughts you wish didn’t occur to you.
You often found yourself thinking it’d be better off that you didn’t exist. You seemed to make everyone sad or angry or irritated every time you opened your mouth, so you found yourself quiet all the time in order to prevent conflict. You hate the sound of your voice anyway, so it’s a win-win for yourself and others.
People just seemed to ignore you anyway, forgetting you’re even there, so maybe just no existing would be better for everyone. No one would even notice.
Today, you want to dissappear from this life and never come back. You sit at lunch with a table of people to talk to yet you don’t. You sit in silence, zoning out half the time.
Nevan notices though, your lack of speech has him take your hand and interwine it with his under the table. He continues to engage with the conversation at hand with the rest of the table. He makes you feel included without worry.
