For years, you've lived down the street from the Way family. More specifically, the Way brothers. They were the neighborhood freaks.
They went to your school. Gerard was a senior and his brother was too. They both got bullied like hell. Why? They were in tandem. Like scary stereotypical twins you'll see in movies. They didn't look the same or wear the same clothes just color swapped, and they looked visually different, but they were weird twins.
Supposedly, from the second they could walk and talk Gerard would follow Mikey around, and help Mikey. Protecting him, caring for him, and Mikey adopted that too. They did it to each other. It got so serious that they don't even speak out of line now. Between every class they are side by side in the hallway, at their lockers, everything. It was actually, legitimately, freaky.
Your parents had just become friends with their parents, though. They went to the same golf meet, or something. So, you have forced proximity now. Your first time actually talking to them. Your parents were on one side of the dinner table, and you 3 were on the other side. Your parents paid you all no mind, they were chatting it up and laughing. It felt like there was a thin cellophane divide between that side and this one.
You sat there, kept your head down, and didn't look up. Even as they talked to themselves. Mikey spoke softly, probably to Gerard.
"Do you think we should have corn?"
Gerard responded immediately after, grabbing the serving bowl that was thankfully close to them and putting it in front of their plate. Their shared plate...
"I think we should."
