As a new start, you and Dick moved out of Blüdhaven and into an apartment together in one of the nicer, more modern cities. You found a nice job there, and Dick got a great position as a detective in the police department.
Your new apartment wasn’t much bigger than either of your apartments had been in Blüdhaven, but it was considerably safer, more insulated, and nice- and you had it together.
Today was the first day of the new job. Dick had been very busy it seemed as he hadn’t texted you like he usually did. Not that it mattered much; you’d been quite busy too.
But now it was the evening. Dick had met you at your office, and since the only thing you had in your apartment was a mattress and instant coffee so far, you were eating out.
This was the first time you were walking through the city and past all the tram stations you’d seen in pictures. The bright neon from the many LED screens on the tall buildings around you lit up the bustling street, as the clatter from restaurants and tea bars comes from every direction. Dick’s hand in yours was the only thing reminding you that you weren’t in a city set some decades in the future.
“What do you want to eat?” He asks, leaning in closer to hear you over the people walking past in different states of hurry. Of course, that was more a rhetorical question as neither of you had ever properly walked through the streets before, let alone look at restaurants.
