"Bang."

The Task Force members, including you jolting in surprise as L stood in front of you all with a finger gun gesture as you had all introduced yourselves. "What the hell was that?" Aizawa asked in an irritated tone, not appreciating L's little joke.

L lowered his hand with a slight groan as he saw everyone's expression, all not liking the joke. "If I were Kira you'd be dead mister Soichiro Yagami of the NPA..." L spoke in his usual monotone voice.

Everyone, including you appeared startled by L's response. You tilted your head slightly as you watched L turn to the side while keeping his eye on the group. His eyes then flicker to you in the group, he stared at you without uttering a word but you could see that he was thinking of something the more he continued looking at you. He copied your slight head tilt, causing you to straighten up then swallowing hard- why was he staring?

Suddenly he stopped and glanced to the others, "Kira needs a face and a name in order to commit murder," he finally spoke. "but I'm sure you've figured that out, haven't you."

"Please do not give out your name so carelessly." He added, while once again looking directly at you. "Instead, lets value our lives." He finished before giving the others one last look then turning away to the large living room area of the hotel room. "He needs to know their names?" Matsuda questioned, looking to the Chief. "I knew about faces, but did anyone mention names?"

The Chief looked back at him, "Every major criminal whose name is unknown, or whose name was reported incorrectly remains alive." he replied. "This was brought up in the Task Force meetings."

You parted your lips to reply when L's voice cut through the room, silencing you all again, "That's enough small talk for now," he said. "come this way." L gestured to the large living room, and you realised this was the start of the meeting. You were the first to walk towards the room but were stopped with L putting an arm out, blocking you from entering. "Please turn off all your cellphones and any other communication devices and leave them on the table right there."

"What do you think we're going to be using our cellphones during this meeting to leak information?" Aizawa snapped back, narrowing his eyes. "It's alright," The Chief spoke up. "just do as he says."

L still kept his arm out to block you, he turned his head to look directly at you, his big dark eyes bore into yours as if indicating to you silently to do as he says.

After some time the meeting with you all together as a group finished off on a positive note, the rest of the team felt motivated in catching Kira and put this nightmare to end. However, you stopped cheering when you noticed L standing up and glancing off in the distance. "First, to be sure that none of you is Kira, I'd like to speak to each of you alone." Suddenly his head snapped in your direction with widened eyes.

"Starting with you. Follow me."

L lead you to a small room within the hotel room, there was a wooden table and two wooden chairs to match. He climbed into the chair, sitting in his unusual position, knees up to his chest and his hands resting on his knees. You closed the door behind you and sat down in the chair in front of him at the table. "You look nervous," L comments, watching you closely. "I can promise you that I don't bite..."
