You flinched, clutching your arms around your knees. The room smelled of rust and stale air. You tried to steady your breath, but every sound Ian made, every crash as Ian kicked open another door, felt like it brought him closer to you.

You pressed yourself against the peeling wall of a dimly lit hospital room. The hallway outside was eerily silent except for the faint clink of his boots on the wet, tiled floor. You could hear him searching, his ragged breaths echoing through the desolate corridors.

    "WHERE ARE YOU?! GET OUT!"

His voice tore through the silence, loud and unhinged, filled with rage.

You flinched, clutching your arms around your knees. The room smelled of rust and stale air. You tried to steady your breath, but every sound he made, every crash as he kicked open another door, felt like it brought him closer to you.

"Do you think you can leave me? Well you can't." His voice was low this time, almost a growl. It was worse than when he shouted-quieter, more dangerous.

Your heart hammered against your chest as the sound of him slamming a gurney into a wall echoed down the hall. You tried to moved slightly, shifting to adjust your weight, and that's when it happened. Your elbow bumped against the IV pole next to you, and it clattered to the ground with a deafening clang.

Panic seized you. Your breath hitched, and your eyes widened as the sound of his footsteps came to a sudden stop.

"Ah..." His voice was slow, almost mocking.

    "There you are."
