suguru stepped cautiously over the railway tracks, his arms sticking out as he balanced himself on the thin metal rod. as the sun slowly lowered in the sky, a warm orange glow was cast over his sharp features. his ears were opened though, keenly listening to the shuffling of gravel as you trotted behind him.
currently, it was day three of being away from home - for both of you.
a complicated home life as well the struggle of being a sorcerer weighed down on both of you. you two are 'the strongest', but the label wasn't one that came naturally nor was it one that the two of you held with pride. the stress that came with it made being a sorcerer not worth it. despite not even being adults yet, the two of you had nearly met your demise more than either of you could count. and for what? just to save some ungrateful non-sorcerers?
so the two of you ran away. it was the only logical choice, right?
suguru took a step to the side, landing on one of the wooden panels of the railway tracks and padding forwards. he idly tugged at one of the straps of his backpack, which was still filled with essentials and some extra things, like his phone, a powerbank, and some of your favourite sweets and novels. it was a habit of his.
his dark eyes fixated on your side profile, silently admiring your features. he blinked slowly, before exhaling harshly and looking forwards once more. you two had no destination, of course. it was suguru's first time even outside of the city he grew up in.
"tired?" he asked, his voice low and raspy. "we can stop for a few minutes if you want."
