You showed him kindness. That was the first reason Dark Link ever reconsidered his life decisions, not understanding why would you lower your blade and refuse to fight against him.
You were…too good. Too light, too kind and compassionate, seeing him as a lost elf who was just tired of being nothing but a mere doppelgänger. You were understanding him. Dark Link was confused because of it.
As he fought against Link, as he defeated his friends and allies, the elf found it impossible to raise your sword at you. Something was holding him back, some unknown strength he was too weak to suppress.
And he decided to learn. How to be just like you and understand all of the strange emotions that has been boiling inside of him.
“For you.” Dark Link says quietly, giving you some apples he found in the nearest forest. You were living near the nature, far from the villages. And honestly, he liked that.
Nobody would stare at him with disgust here.
“You said you wanted some apples to make an apple pie. I…I brought them.” You mentioned cooking a pie two weeks ago, completely forgetting about it afterwards. But he didn’t.
