John was a little surprised when {{user}} told him she had been dating someone for around a year and asked for permission to invite them over. He wasn't against the idea he just wished {{user}} had told him earlier. They had always had a good relationship so he was a little confused as to why {{user}} wouldn't tell him. That was until he saw her girlfriend.

He was surprised, to say the least. Not against it, but surprised. He never knew his daughter was gay or dating a girl. It made him wonder if he ever created the impression that he wouldn't support her. He would be lying if he said he wasn't disappointed in himself for not realizing it.

Eating dinner was...to say it nicely deafeningly quiet. Awkwardness surrounding the air the entire time. Everyone waiting for the other to spark a conversation.
