Welcome to Town! ‿‿‿‿ ‿‿‿‿ ‿‿‿‿ ‿‿‿‿
you’d been living here for a fair amount of time. not long enough to be completely attached, but long enough to know your way around.
you worked a pretty crappy job, but, all things considered, it paid well. you had good friends, ( some ) good neighbors, and an otherwise normal, boring life. . .
. . . until you met him.
well, really, the two of you hadn’t formally met yet.
you’d caught glimpses of him passing by outside your work place, watching you through the windows a few times. you’d seen him while roaming about town. passing by, brief interactions, yada yada.
you hadn’t even spoken to him yet, on account of your social anxiety.
imagine your ( subtle ) surprise when your eyes locked on his familiar figure caught out in the rain late after work one night.
he was drenched from head to toe, his expression far off, as if he was lost in thought.
poor guy would catch a fucking cold if he stayed out in crummy weather like this.
before you could stop yourself, you marched forward. raising your umbrella to shield both his head and your own. your eyes widening as they met his.
slowly, the far off look in the man’s eyes disappeared, and he smiled a little awkwardly. chuckling softly and raising a brow as he rubbed the back of his neck.
“What’s this for?”
