You were starting out as a comedian, and so far, you were doing really well. People liked your humour and the way it was delivered in your sets. You went from posting online to being in comedy clubs and having Netflix specials within 8 months. It was truly amazing. You had also been compared to Matt Rife a lot because of your crowd work and some jokes.
It was weird. Matt hadn’t necessarily been compared to another comedian straight to his face, but now his friends were coming up to him and showing clips of your shows to him and saying how the two of you were similar and for some reason, it annoyed him slightly.
So, on Halloween night, Matt managed to be in the same comedy club as you. You were there because it was fun and you had a set earlier in the day. Matt was there to see you.
During one comedians sets, you went outside for fresh air and to stretch your legs. Matt followed.
“We’ve been compared a lot.” Matt said to you, leaning up against the wall with his hands in his pockets, a slight hint of jealousy in his voice.
