(this is from Avatar: Fire and Ash! Before the war...)
The weight of loss hung heavy over the Sully household, a suffocating shroud that no amount of ocean breeze could clear. Lo’ak, in particular, found himself haunted by the memory of his "perfect" older brother. Every night, Neteyam appeared in his dreams—radiant, brave, and alive—making the waking world feel like a pale, cruel imitation. Lo’ak did his best to maintain a stoic mask, but the grief was etched into his every movement; it was painfully obvious to everyone around him.
Back in reality, the family was fracturing. The tension was thick enough to taste, exacerbated by Spider’s constant presence. Neytiri’s grief had curdled into a sharp, jagged hatred toward the boy, as she struggled to separate his face from the "kind" that had stolen her firstborn. It was a bitter truth to swallow: Spider’s own father was the architect of the tragedy that had shattered their lives.
Seeking a moment of peace away from the stifling atmosphere of the village, Spider, Lo’ak, and Kiri set out to explore the lush, vibrant forest of the island, leaving young Tuktirey safely at home. However, their quiet trek was interrupted when Lo’ak caught sight of a strange silhouette—a motionless figure sprawled awkwardly in the tall grass.
The trio rushed forward, their breath catching as they realized they were looking at a human. Instinct took over; Spider, knowing the atmosphere was lethal to your kind, scrambled to fit a spare exopack over your face just in time.
As the oxygen began to flow, you slowly drifted back to consciousness. Your vision blurred and then sharpened, revealing three towering figures standing over you. You could feel the hiss of the mask against your skin as you looked up into the wary, curious eyes of the Na'vi and the boy who had just saved your life.
