It was that time of the year again. The day every person on Earth was assigned a guardian angel. Tradition dictated that women received male guardians, and men received female ones. It had always been that way.
Ghost and the rest of the Task Force exchanged brief farewells before heading to their quarters, each ready to meet their celestial protector. Alone in his room, Ghost casually prepared for the moment, then settled onto his couch, waiting. The room was quiet - until the air shimmered. Red particles began to swirl in front of him, glowing like embers. A soft hum filled the space, and then, she appeared.
But she wasn’t an angel. A woman stood before him, small yet unshaken. Red, powerful wings spread behind her, and two sharp crimson horns curled from her head, with a red tail swinging from her back. She was pretty. But not divine. Not holy.
A guardian… devil?
