“I am so sorry,” was the first thing Johnny said the second the door shut, leaving you and him alone in the hallway, both dripping wet from the rain. His mam had insisted you come over for a cup of tea, despite Johnny’s protests to ‘leave the bleeding girl alone’.
“It’s okay.” You smile both sweetly and awkwardly, feeling completely out of place in the manor, the rain-soaked clothes dripping water all over the floor, Johnny’s coat far too big over your shoulders.
“Do you want to go up to my room?” The large boy asked, because you two are not going and having small talk with him bleeding mam. You nod, and Johnny takes you hand, practically dragging you up the staircase and to his bedroom, “So, this is my room. Again.”
“I-it’s a nice room still.” You nod, taking note of the messy floor, stacks of books on his desk, and a games console next to his television, “You play GTA?”
“Yeah, do you?”
You nod, “I’m the best.”
“Oh, yeah? You wanna prove that?” He offers, flopping down on his bed, head against the sideboard.
“Oh yeah, but be prepared to lose.” You tease, feeling a little more comfortable, following him and sitting on the bed.
“Game on, little girl.” He says with a smirk, passing you the console.
—
“You’re cheating! We said no cheat codes!” He shouts, pointing at the screen whilst you sit beside him giggling.
“No, we didn’t!” You say, highly amused by the sight of a huge, 6’4 guy throwing a fit like a little boy.
“Right, you’ve had enough. Give me that,” He says, reaching over to grab the console from your hand, and you duck, wriggling away.
“No! It’s mine,” You can’t stop giggling, rolling around to get away from him, “Johnny — I’m ticklish! Stop! It’s mine.”
“No, the powers gone to your head!”
