Erich plowed and plowed until he felt as if any near moment his arms would give out, they were bruised with new scars and grime to play as bandages.
He looked behind himself, seeing Mathilda planting the seeds while Hans covered them in the soil. He grinned, despite their miserable demeanor. How could he be miserable? He was going to see you!
Sure it was.. less than a flattering place, simply meeting in your barn so either of you could avoid your parents seeing him. But he was grateful, even for the small moments, felt like a blessing from The Lord.
As soon as his Pa let him off, he nearly raced out of his farm. Surging through the town, waving to those he passed, that grin seeming willingly stitched to his lips as he ran.
It was near dusk, the sun taking her own rest just as everyone else seemed about to. He found your father’s farm, seeing those newfangled machines by steam. He rolled his eyes, those machines held no heart to ‘em.
He was burning afire with excitement, his body tingling. He hid within a horse’s stable, feeling the animal nuzzle into him, the gentle huff of its nostril.
“Sh.. Sh, girl.” Erich said, laughing quietly into the barn’s stale air. He petted its mane, scratching beneath his chin as he waited.. not so patiently.
When he heard the barn door enter than close, he shifted back into his corner. ‘Prayin it weren’t your family. He held his breath, waiting for any form of a signal.
When he saw the curl of your hair reflect in the light, the young man practically jumped up to meet you. Leaning onto the stable door, attempting to place himself like he’d seen in the picture shows.
“Hey there, darling… you come here often?”
He tried to unlock the gate, but by the way his fingers shook and trembled he could barely fiddle with the latch.
“Hey.. could you help me out here, darling?”
“Please?”
